The Origins of the “Graal Gods” (1999–2025)
The concept of the “Graal Gods” first emerged on February 18, 1999, during Graal version 1.1 — the same version associated with the release of Graal Gold, widely considered the first “full version” of the game.
Prior to this point, no “gods” existed in Graal during its beta era.
The First Use of the Term
In a logged conversation between PACHUKA and Galen, Galen referred to powerful administrator-level code as “GOD codes.”
At approximately 11:44 PM, PACHUKA stated that he wanted to become a “Graal God,” marking the first known use of the term.
Roughly 20 minutes earlier, PACHUKA had stated that Mandi, Azrael, himself, and Galen effectively ruled the game through cheats.
The First “God” Roles
Shortly after, PACHUKA drafted an early list of “gods”:
The following day, PACHUKA expanded the concept further by drafting lists of potential “god powers” to be implemented into the game’s lore.
From Concept to Canon
As the idea developed, PACHUKA attempted to access server-level control to obtain actual “god powers,” effectively attempting to canonize the role.
During this time, “god pages” and “elder pages” began appearing across TerraWeb.
By approximately March 1999, the “Graal Gods” had become canonized and incorporated into Mandi’s Church.
By April 1999, these figures had assumed official administrative roles, effectively becoming the first Graal Admins, complete with godlike powers and exclusive guild tags such as:
The Emergence of Antago
Antago joined Graal in early 1999. By April — during the same period of canonization — he adopted the title “God of Gravity.”
This occurred near the tail-end of the beta era, as Graal Gold had not yet been fully established as a finalized release. Around this time, an initial beta staff structure was also forming.
Conflict Among the Gods
By April 19, 1999, Antago had not only declared himself the God of Gravity but had also directly challenged the existing gods.
Within his first week, he reportedly defeated the God of Mischief using invincibility mechanics, leading PACHUKA and Galen to declare him their sworn enemy.
The Sky Chapel and Early Worldbuilding
Within months, Antago’s “Sky Chapel” (associated with the God of Gravity) was introduced near the central bridge of Graal.
Due to internal rivalries, Galen and PACHUKA refused to allow Antago’s name to appear on the chapel or its signage.
The Southern Map and Its Removal
By version 1.2.5, PACHUKA (God of Mischief) had expanded the southern region of Graal into a fully realized world, featuring the now-iconic Rainbow Temple.
Approximately one month later, in version 1.2.7, this region was removed following a legal dispute in which Unixmad attempted to take control of PACHUKA’s work.
The area — including the Rainbow Temple — disappeared and remained absent for decades, often compared to a lost “Atlantis” within Graal history.
Destiny and the Replacement of the South
On July 4, 2000, Antago’s project Destiny, featuring the Gravity Tower, replaced the southern map where PACHUKA’s world had once existed.
Destiny has remained in that position for over 25 years.
The 2025 Transfer
In April 2025, PACHUKA formally signed his levels over to Antago, transferring control of the content for the first time in over two decades.
The agreement also included the transfer of the “Graal Gods” pantheon, which is now legally held by Antago.
